Mycelium &#8211; Lion&#8217;s Mane (Porcupine mushroom)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lion&#8217;s Mane, or hedgehog mushrooms as they are known in Danish, are a popular mushroom. The mushroom has a firm, meat-like texture when cooked correctly. For example, it can be prepared as a schnitzel by slicing the mushrooms and breading them. Then fry them in a pan in oil and butter.   <\/p>\n<p>They can also be used as a side dish in almost any dish. They can also be pickled and confit. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Grow Lion&#8217;s mane in pasteurized beech pellets and crumbs or coffee grounds.<\/p>\n<p>INGREDIENTS BEECH PELLETS:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 700 g. beech pellets<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 150 g. beech flour<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 150 g. bran<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 2 l. water<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 50-100 g. Lion&#8217;s Mane Mycelium <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A heavy-duty, food-grade plastic bag (we recommend our substrate bags) or a plastic container. Approx. 1 liter. For example, a candy jar.  <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Boil the water and pour about 1.8 liters of boiling water over the beech pellets, crumbs and bran. Stir a few times and leave the mixture covered for an hour. <\/p>\n<p>Then stir the mixture again. The mixture should be moist so that no water can be squeezed out. If the mixture seems dry, add the last 2 deciliters of water.  <\/p>\n<p>When the mixture is below 30 degrees, mix in the mycelium. Then transfer it to either a bag or container. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>METHOD (WITH BEECH PELLETS AND CRUMB):<\/p>\n<p>1. Cut 2-4 holes of approx. 3-4 cm, or two long cuts of approx. 6 cm. If you are using a container, cut 2-4 round holes about 1.0 cm in diameter in the container, depending on the size of the container. Use boiling water to disinfect the container and other tools.  <\/p>\n<p>2. Put breathable tape such as sports tape or painter&#8217;s tape over the holes.<\/p>\n<p>3. The bag\/bucket must be full and the contents must be well compressed. Close the bag tightly at the top or put a lid on the container. <\/p>\n<p>4. It is expected that after 2-3 weeks the mycelium will have passed through the beech pellets and after another 1-2 weeks the first fungi will start to grow. Be aware that you are working with living organisms, so it can take both shorter and longer. Be patient with the project.  <\/p>\n<p>5. When the mushrooms grow, it&#8217;s a good idea to spray them daily with an atomizer, otherwise they may dry out. They should also not be left too dry. <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>INGREDIENTS COFFEE GROUNDS:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A heavy-duty, food-grade plastic bag (we recommend our substrate bags) or a plastic container. Must be stored in the fridge. <\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Coffee grounds, fresh and chilled.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A scalded spoon or similar to stir with.<\/p>\n<p>For best results, use grounds from your filter coffee, pot or similar.<\/p>\n<p>METHOD (WITH FINISHED AMOUNT OF COFFEE GROUNDS &#8211; ENOUGH TO FILL YOUR CONTAINER):<\/p>\n<p>6.
