Don’t worry about fungi under the plastic. Fungi also come out of the holes. Don’t help mushrooms out from under the plastic. They will die on the road anyway.
Troubleshooting – if something doesn’t go as expected
Growing mushrooms is a living process, and it’s normal that not everything develops the same every time.
Below are some of the most common challenges – and what you can do.
There will be no mushrooms
- Is the bag too warm? Oyster mushrooms thrive in cool conditions.
- Is the humidity too low? Spray water 1-2 times daily.
- Is there fresh air around the bag?
The mushrooms become long and thin
- Solution: Move the bag to a place with better ventilation.
Mushrooms dry up or stop growing
- Dust the holes more often.
- Avoid direct sunlight and radiator heat.
Mushrooms grow under the plastic
Make more or larger holes to give the mushrooms a place to grow.
